Saturday, September 23 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Cash bar,
complimentary hors d'oeuvres. This event is NOT open
to the media; it
is simply an opportunity for veterans, military servicemembers
and
friends to get together and socialize, and to learn
more about MEA's
work.

booth at Hampton Roads Pride on Sunday, Sept. 24 and
are looking for

MEA Roundtable Discussion on "Don't Ask, Don't
Tell." Panelists will include CAPT Robert M. Rankin,
USN (Ret.), M.D.; COL Thomas F. Field, USA (Ret.); and
CPO Vivien H. Viloria, USN (Ret.), all of whom are Virginia
residents and will discuss how "Don't Ask, Don't
Tell" affects the people of the state of Virginia,
and what can be done about it. Moderated by Lara A.
Ballard, MEA Board Co-Chair and Regional Grassroots
Coordinator. Discussion will be held from 2:00 to 4:00

Thursday, August 24, Fredericksburg, Virginia:
MEA co-sponsors an "Armed Forces Reception"
upstairs at the Loft in
downtown Fredericksburg as the kickoff event for Fredericksburg
Pride.
The reception will run from 8:00 to 10:00 p.m. Admission
is $9, and
includes buffet style hors d'oeuvres, two drinks at
half price, or FREE
drinks for veterans and servicemembers who come in uniform.
The $9
admission rate also includes the cover charge for indie
rock band The
Wandas, who will be performing at the Loft from 10:00
to 2:00 a.m.
The Loft will be serving a World Class Menu in its downstairs
restaurant from 5:00 to 10:00 p.m. on August 24; those
who dine at the
Loft will be admitted to the reception and The Wandas
performance free
of charge. The Loft is at 1005 Princess Anne Street
in historic
downtown Fredericksburg, less than an hour's drive from
Washington,
